Pike's Peak, Iowa

Steven Dutch, Professor Emeritus, Natural and Applied Sciences, University of Wisconsin - Green Bay

Sec 2 T94N R3W, Clayton County, Iowa, five miles south of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

A visit to Pikes Peak is a nice complement to a visit to Wyalusing, because the view from Pikes Peak shows the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers from a different perspective.

View north along the Mississippi. Note the bluffs, the very wide flood plain and the braided channel geometry.
View north-northeast across the Mississippi, with Prairie du Chien on the far shore.
The confluence. The Wisconsin River is visible at upper right. Wyalusing State Park in Wisconsin is atop the bluffs on the extreme right edge.
Looking southeast across the Mississippi
